Luzhniki Stadium, located in Moscow, Russia, is one of the most historic and iconic sports venues in the world. Originally opened in 1956 and extensively renovated for modern standards—most recently ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup—the stadium is Russia’s national stadium and centrepiece of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex.
With a current capacity of around 81,000, Luzhniki Stadium is equipped with a World Athletics-certified track and has hosted numerous prestigious athletic competitions over the decades such as the 1980 Summer Olympics and the 2013 World Athletics Championships.
