The IAAF president's on-stage discussion at the WADA Anti-Doping Organisation (ADO) Symposium in March

International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president Seb Coe spoke about his take on anti-doping and provided an update on the anti-doping reform measures being taken by the sport's world governing body at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Anti-Doping Organisation (ADO) Symposium in March.

Interviewed by WADA's senior manager of media relations and communications, Ben Nichols, Coe said that in a year's time, athletics "will look very, very different" to how the sport looks today.

On the future, Coe commented: "I have a twin challenge here. To return trust to the IAAF and to return trust to sport, the sport of athletics, and particularly, to create systems that are safe and secure for clean athletes. Because if this isn’t about the athletes, we might as well all go home."

In discussing what he would like his IAAF legacy to look like, Coe added: "Anti-doping is not our biggest problem. It's a massive problem, but actually the biggest challenge is exciting young people to want to take up our sport. We haven’t done that well enough. Where are the new generation?

"I would like to think that the legacy of the current (IAAF) Council is that we have a sport that looks very, very different in the next few years to young people."
