Winners of 2015 awards announced in London

The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon, parkrun and Brooks were among the winners announced at the second edition of The Running Awards held at indigo at The O2 in London recently.

BBC sports presenter Mike Bushell was handing out the awards and was joined on stage by some special guests and celebrity presenters including Mara Yamauchi, Martin Yelling, Steve Way, Jemma Simpson and Lornah Kiplagat.

The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon was voted best marathon, while the best half-marathon prize went to Ealing Half Marathon. The Color Run – London was named the best fun run, while parkrun claimed the trophy for best event series.

Among the brands to receive recognition was Brooks which was voted best shoe brand, with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 named best men's and women's shoe. Cancer Research UK was named the best charity.

The Running Awards is an independent annual awards ceremony celebrating running and its culture, with runners and consumers nominating and voting for their favourite products, brands, publications, sports retailers and events.

"The 2015 Running Awards in association with everydayhero has been a huge success and we would like to express a big thank you to everybody who has been supporting the awards and to all the runners who have been voting for their favourites across a range of categories," said The Running Awards co-founder Paul Corrick.

"We have created the definitive gala night which recognises the very best in the running industry and we are proud to be the only independent awards ceremony celebrating the best of running and its culture, where the runners decide who gets awarded the trophies and the sought-after gold badge."
