National Stadium (Toyko)

The National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan—also known as the Japan National Stadium or Olympic Stadium—is a world-class venue that has become a major stage for track and field events. Built on the site of the original 1958 stadium, it was completely reconstructed and reopened in 2019 as the main venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, the stadium combines modern sustainability with traditional Japanese aesthetics. It has a seating capacity of approximately 68,000, and features a World Athletics-certified track designed to host top-tier international competitions.

It will soon play host to the World Athletics Championships in September 2025 which will bring the world’s best athletes back to Tokyo for another major global event.
