Dewi Griffiths wins Welsh cross-country title No.9
WELSH CHAMPIONSHIPS, PEMBURY COUNTRY PARK, Llanelli, January 25
A change from the usual Pembury course was announced just nine days before the event but that did not stop Dewi Griffiths from winning yet another Welsh senior cross-country title, his ninth over 13 years.
However, it was all relatively close as Belgrave’s Thomas Chaston ran the holder close but both were well clear of third-placed Dan Nash.
Chaston spends all of his time racing in the United States although did place sixth in the British Olympic Games steeplechase trials, running 8:42.21.
Lauren Cooper not only took the women’s race but also led her Parc Bryn Bach club to the team championship as she regained the title she last won in 2022.
