WINTER THROWS INVITATION, Woodford, February 13

Katie Head went second all-time in the UK in the women’s hammer to Olympic medallist Sophie Hitchon with a 69.72m throw.

It was a stunning four-metre PB and moved her up from 13th with her 65.39m last summer.

Kayleigh Presswell set a PB of 64.77m in second.

Mark Dry was first in the men’s hammer with a 70.03m throw.

Kai Barham set a PB of 65.88m in winning the under-17 event.

Nick Percy was the men’s discus winner with a 59.46m throw.

4J STUDIOS SCOTTISH ATHLETICS INDOOR MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS (& PARA SUCCESS), Emirates Arena, February 13

The highlight of the championships was a M65 clash over 1500m between Paul Forbes, who has set a world M65 800m record this year, and Alastair Walker, who has set a world mark over 3000m.

Forbes, a former Commonwealth Games competitor over 800m, won in a British record 4:43.88 but just missed Cees Stolwijk’s 4:43.01 world mark. Walker ran 4:47.30 to go second all-time among British competitors in the age group.

Fiona Matheson, who just lost her recently-set world 3000m mark, continued her record-breaking by bettering the world W60 indoor 1500m listed mark of 5:10.44 with 5:09.58.

There was also a British W60 record for Yvonne Crilly of 2:35.91 which improved Nancy Hitchmough’s 2:37.67.

M40 Ian Horsburgh gained a 7.30/22.76 sprint double.
