The five-time world T12 sprint medallist is suffering from an Achilles problem

Libby Clegg says she has been left more motivated for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and 2017 IPC Athletics World Championships in London after an Achilles injury forced her to withdraw from the current Worlds event in Doha.

The five-time world T12 sprint medallist had been due to contest both the 100m and 200m in Qatar, but Clegg and her guide runner Mikail Huggins have had their campaign cut short after the injury which was sustained during warm up for the 200m semi-finals.

"I'm disappointed that our campaign here in Doha has come to an end," said 25-year-old Clegg, who won the Commonwealth T12 100m title in Glasgow last summer and has secured 100m silver at the past two editions of the Paralympic Games.

"We came into the championships in good shape and we were really looking forward to testing ourselves against the world's best.

"Sport can sometimes be cruel," added the Scottish sprinter, who claimed double world silver in Lyon two years ago. "But this setback has definitely given the motivation to come back stronger for Rio and London 2017."
