European 100m champ Dasaolu suffered season-ending hamstring tear at this year's event but says he is over his injuries

European gold medallists James Dasaolu and Asha Philip are the latest athletes to have been confirmed for the Sainsbury's Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham on February 21.

Dasaolu suffered a season-ending hamstring tear when winning the 60m at this year's event, having earlier on in the competition run a personal best and then world lead of 6.47. But having gone on to win European 100m gold this summer the 27-year-old says he is over his injuries.

"I believe I'm over my injuries and that's that," said the Croydon sprinter. On whether competing indoors again could be considered a risk ahead of a summer which includes the World Championships in Beijing, Dasaolu added: "There's no risk at all, that's why I'm being confirmed to compete.

"It's been very consistent this winter, we've had no hiccups. I think I had a bit of a cold which ruled me out for a few days but apart from that it's all been good."

Although both athletes say that a decision is yet to be made as to whether the European Indoor Championships in Prague will feature for them this winter, Philip has previously told AW how a podium place would be the goal.

The Newham & Essex Beagle finished fourth and first European at the World Indoors earlier this year and said: "When you're competing against the world and you're coming so close to them and so close to the medals it does give you a boost for Europeans. But every year is different so I'm not going to rule anyone out or expect the girls not to compete on that day. I will have confidence and if I go it will be more to compete and get to the final and then try and get a medal."

Philip, who suffered a career-threatening injury in 2007, added: "Making the Commonwealth and World Indoor finals have definitely given me a boost. It makes me feel like I'm becoming the athlete who I was before."

The 24-year-old has recently relocated from London to Loughborough to join coach Steve Fudge's training group which features Dasaolu as well as the likes of Adam Gemili, Chris Clarke and Jonnie Peacock.

"It's entertaining I must say," she said on being a part of the group, in which she is the only female. "I do get on well with these boys, they've taken me under their wing quite nicely."

Looking ahead to the Sainsbury's Indoor Grand Prix, at which she finished third behind Murielle Ahouré and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce earlier this year, Philip said: "It is one of my favourite indoor meets. My whole family come to watch me so I'm excited to compete there again next year."

Double Olympic, world and European champion Mo Farah is also set to compete in Birmingham in February as he returns to the event for the seventh time.
