Men's 400m hurdles, women's 10,000m and discus finals among those to be held during morning sessions at 2016 Olympic Games

Every athletics session at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is to include at least one final, with the men's 400m hurdles, women's 10,000m and both discus finals among those to take place in morning sessions.

Having already confirmed that the Rio 2016 Games would include morning finals, the IAAF published the full timetable on Monday.

The women's 10,000m is to be the first morning final on the opening day of athletics action - Friday August 12 - while the last event taking place in the Rio Olympic Stadium will be the men's 4x400m relay on Saturday August 20.

"Staging finals in the morning was done at the request of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee and the Olympic Broadcasting Service, supported by the International Olympic Committee," said IAAF competitions director Paul Hardy.

"Having finals in the morning will also ensure that we receive maximum visibility for athletics at the Olympic Games across all time zones."

All five road events - the two marathons and the three race walk events - will be held in morning sessions, while other morning finals include both 3000m steeplechase events, the men's triple jump and the women's hammer.
