Sally Pearson wins 16th national title - weekly round-up
While the US Championships dominated internationally (report here, including a video of Christian Coleman's 60m world record) and the British and BUCS championships were on domestically, other events of note included the following.
Australian Championships, Gold Coast, February 16-18
World champion Sally Pearson won the 100m hurdles easily in 12.73 for her 16th national title.
Recent Oceania record-setter Kathryn Mitchell won the javelin with a 65.51m throw.
Luke Mathews won the 800m gold in 1:45.90, though Joseph Deng won the B final in a world outdoor lead of 1:45.71.

Irish Life Health National Indoor Championships, Abbotstown, February 17/18
Amy Foster broke the national 60m record with 7.27.
Sean Breathnach set a national indoor shot put record with 18.30m.
Sarah Healy highlighted day one of the championships as she broke the Irish under-20 and youth 3000m records to win her first national senior title in 9:10.43.
Leon Reid again completed a sprint double, winning the 60m and 200m in 6.72 and 21.36 respectively.
Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon, February 18
Maria Heslop won the women’s race in 82:25 from fellow W50 Tina Oldershaw, who ran 85:03.
Simon Goldworthy was first man in 71:21.
Kinross to Lossiemouth Half Marathon, February 18
Robbie Simpson won the men’s race by over six minutes in 67:13.
Ali Matthews won a more closely contested women’s race in 84:53 from Marie Baxter’s 85:02.
Wokingham Half Marathon, February 18
London 2012 Olympic marathoner Scott Overall won by over four minutes in 65:11 from Rob Corney’s 69:22.
Naomi Mitchell won the women’s race in 77:55 ahead of top W40 Claire Grima’s 78:29.

Llanelli Half Marathon, February 18
Matt Clowes was first in a time of 65:16, with Andrew Davies second in 67:44.
Clara Evans was the first woman in a time of 76:58.
Hobart 10km, Australia, February 18
Lisa Weightman won the women’s race in 32:41, exactly a minute ahead of Charlotte Purdue.
Fellow Briton Nick Earl finished fifth in 29:47 in a race won by Liam Adams in 29:15.
Japanese Championships, Kobe, February 18
Eiki Takahashi won the Japanese 20km walk title in a world-leading 1:17:26 which puts him ninth all-time.
Czech Championships, Prague, February 17/18
Tomas Stanek won the shot with a 21.59m championship record, while world indoor 400m champion Pavel Maslak won the 200m in 20.90.
German Championships, Dortmund, February 17/18
Tatjana Pinto won the 60m in a PB 7.06, just missing the German record of 7.04 jointly held by Silke Gladisch and Marita Koch.
She later won the 200m in 23.19.
European indoor and outdoor champion Cindy Roleder equalled her PB of 7.84 to win the 60m hurdles title ahead of Pamela Dutkiewicz in 7.89.
Three-time European champion David Storl won the shot with a 21.19m throw.
On her 21st birthday, Konstanze Klosterhalfen won the 3000m in 8:36.01, breaking Kathrin Ullrich’s 30-year-old national indoor record of 8:41.79.

French Championships, Lievin, February 16/17
Aurel Manga won the 60m hurdles in 7.53 ahead of twice world indoor 60m hurdles silver medallist Pascal Martinot-Lagarde’s 7.54.
Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou, who was second in both sprints at the London World Championships, guested the 60m to win in 7.16 just ahead of French champion Carolle Zahi’s 7.17.
World record-holder Renaud Lavillenie won the pole vault with a 5.83m vault. His brother Valentin was second in 5.72m.
Netherlands Championships, February 17/18
Dafne Schippers won the 60m in 7.09.
Polish Championships, Torun, February 17/18
Michal Haratyk produced a 21.47m PB to claim the shot title ahead of Konrad Bukowiecki who threw 20.60m just three days after setting a European under-23 record of 22.00m.
Piotr Lisek won the pole vault with a 5.83m vault title ahead of Pawel Wojciechowski’s 5.72m.
Swiss Championships, Magglingen, February 17/18
Mujinga Kambundji won the 60m in a Swiss record 7.03, while Lea Sprunger set a national indoor 200m record of 22.88.
