Zwift, the online training platform used by cyclists worldwide, has launched a service they hope will revolutionise treadmill training for runners.
Zwift Run Free Access allows runners to take part in virtual runs with fellow athletes anywhere in the world, albeit on a treadmill.
By using a Bluetooth footpod linked to your laptop, Apple iPhone or iPad, your speed is communicated to the app and in turn to your on-screen avatar.
As you run you move along the rich on-screen virtual 3D environments with other runners using the platform at the same time.
At present the platform is available free of charge, with a planned subscription service scheduled later in 2018.
Zwift Run Free Access can be downloaded via the App store or zwift.com
