World 800m champion is forced to end season after sustaining 'multiple fractures to the face'

France's Pierre-Ambroise Bosse says he has been the victim of a "violent assault" in which he sustained "multiple fractures to the face".

The 25-year-old claimed a surprise 800m victory at the IAAF World Championships in London earlier this month and had been due to compete at the DecaNation meet on September 9.

But he says he has now had to end his season.

Writing on his Facebook page, Bosse added: "An investigation is under way.

"I've always loved people, I love three less today."

Following his world championships win, AW editor Jason Henderson described Bosse as one of the personalities of the championships thanks to both his on and off track performances.
