Former chair of the North of England AA and life vice-president of the AAA of England will be fondly remembered by several generations of athletes, coaches and fellow officials

Pat Green, one of the most prominent athletics officials in Britain during the past half century, died on August 3 aged 93.

Green was prominent in club athletics with Liverpool Pembroke and Sefton and latterly Liverpool Harriers and Merseyside County AA but she also made her mark nationally.

For many years she was the women's referee at the London Marathon and Great North Run and was a national official for field events and off-track endurance.

Most notably she was chair of North of England AA – latterly Northern Athletics – and life vice-president with the AAA.

She was also chair of the UKA junior commission which ran all the GB junior teams and headed up many World and European teams.

After the death of her husband Jim in 2018, she initially lived at home but for the past few years had been in a residential home in Liverpool.

Her funeral will be held on August 20 at 10am at Widnes Crematorium. Attendees are requested to wear something red if possible.
