Interview with the Paralympic champion ahead of street athletics action in Manchester this weekend

Although disappointed that it looks as though he has lost his race against time to be fit enough to compete at Saturday's BT Great CityGames Manchester himself, Paralympic sprint champion Jonnie Peacock is still looking forward to the street athletics event.

The 20-year-old's last competitive outing was at the Great North CityGames last September and since then he has been working to return to full fitness following injury.

Although he had been hoping to compete at the event on Deansgate himself, the sprinter - who won the T44 100m in Gateshead last autumn having sprinted to victory over the same distance in Manchester last May - looks forward to Saturday's action in the below video and discusses the event's importance for Paralympic athletes.

Among those competing on the temporary track on Deansgate and pop-up athletics arena in Albert Square is former world sprint champion Yohan Blake, Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford, US Paralympic silver 100m medallist Richard Browne, world 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu and world indoor 60m champion Richard Kilty.

Kenenisa Bekele, Wilson Kipsang and Priscah Jeptoo are among those set to race the Bupa Great Manchester Run the following day.
