A look ahead to this weekend's European Team Championships Super League in France

British Athletics are fielding a development squad at this weekend’s European Team Championships in Lille, France.

Athletes are up against teams from Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Ukraine, with Russia not eligible to compete.

The action gets underway at the Stadium Métropole Européenne de Lille on Friday afternoon at 16:40 local time (15:40 BST), with finals on Saturday and Sunday. The full timetable can be found here.

With the event taking place the weekend before the British Athletics World Championships Team Trials, Olympic hammer bronze medallist Sophie Hitchon leads the GB team which includes a number of athletes making their senior international debuts for their country.

In-form 1500m man Jake Wightman features in the team alongside other more experienced athletes such as hurdler Eilidh Doyle (pictured), long jumper Jazmin Sawyers, Luke Cutts in the pole vault, Jade Lally in the discus and world medallist Shara Proctor, who switches from long jump to triple jump.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (100m), Marc Scott (3000m), Jack Green (400m hurdles), Lennie Waite (3000m steeplechase), Alicia Barrett (100m hurdles) and Morgan Lake (high jump) are among others in action.

The host nation seeks a first European Team Championships win, with world pole vault record-holder Renaud Lavillenie and world and Olympic discus silver medallist Melina Robert-Michon among those competing.

Both the Super League and First League competitions will be streamed live on the European Athletics website, with the action available to watch worldwide with the exception of host nations France and Finland as well as Germany.
