American sprinter Fred Kerley has been arrested for allegedly punching Olympic hurdler and former girlfriend Alaysha Johnson and he will miss this weekend's Grand Slam Track meeting in Miami.
The incident is said to have taken place on Thursday (May 1) at a hotel in the city. According to the arrest report, Johnson claims was hit by Kerley in the face with a closed fist, causing her nose to bleed.
Kerley, 29, has been charged with one count of battery-touch or strike.
Kerley, who won silver in the 100m at the Tokyo Olympics and bronze in Paris last year, was due to race over 100m and 200m this weekend with $100,000 up for grabs.
Grand Slam Track said in a statement: "Fred Kerley was arrested last night. The matter is under active investigation, and all inquiries should be directed to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Fred will not compete this weekend. We have no further comment at this time."
