Tom Bosworth, Gemma Bridge and Dominic King among those selected for Lugano Trophy and EAA Permit Meeting events

Tom Bosworth is set to contest his first 20km race walk event of the season in Switzerland as he has been confirmed on the England Athletics team for the Lugano Trophy meet in Lugano on March 19.

The Olympic sixth-placer will be looking to build on his strong indoor form as he works towards the IAAF World Championships in London in August.

Bosworth will be joined on the senior team by world junior champion Callum Wilkinson, who will be making his 20km debut along with Cameron Corbishley, who recently clocked a big 10km PB of 41:26 in Coventry, and British indoor 3000m race walk champion Gemma Bridge.

Chris Snook, Tom Partington and Molly Davey will race in under-20 10km events.

Meanwhile, two-time Olympian Dominic King will contest 50km at the EAA Permit Meeting which takes place in Dudince, Slovakia, on March 25. The event is the GB&NI trial for the World Championships.

After a personal best of 3:55:48 set in Germany in October, King will look to secure his London team place.

"Lugano sees several athletes stepping up as they move through the age groups - no other event group challenges athletes to shift up their competition workloads to the same extent, creating a unique environment for athletes and coaches," said England Athletics' endurance event coordinator for race walking, Andi Drake.

"The 20km performances of last season’s world junior 10,000m athletes are an obvious focus. It will be fascinating to see how they go.

"All racers in Switzerland or Slovakia will want to challenge for GB&NI team places from the European Race Walking Cup in May through to the World Championships in August, with age group opportunities in between."
