Also known as Flo-Jo, Griffith-Joyner was an American track and field athlete and the fastest woman ever recorded, setting world records in 1988 for the 100m and 200m and winning three Olympic gold medals the same year. She was also a popular figure outside of the sport. She died on September 21, 1998, aged 38.
