Dina Asher-Smith is a 25-year-old sprinter and one of the most decorated female athletes in British history. Even though she is young, she managed to set numerous British records on 100m and 200m races, which will be hard to overtake.

Her portfolio consists of many gold medals, participation in the world’s most prestigious tournaments, and competing with the world’s best sprinters, such as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. There is no denying her greatness and because she is still young and is yet to achieve many more things, we decided to take a look back at her career and name some of her most memorable moments (so far). Before we do that, let’s see how influential Dina is.

Heavy Influence

Her dedication and will to break records earned Dina the reward as one of the most influential UK people of African/Caribbean descent by Powerlist. Not only that, but she also managed to break in other industries. One of the most interesting and most surprising is the online casino UK industry. There are plenty of UK-based sites of this character which feature her as the main theme of many games.

Some research has shown that track and field fans are also fond of the idea of playing casino games, and the game providers made sure that they receive a warm welcome. You can find many games at these sites with Dina and the sport in general as the main theme. But, remember that these games should be played out of entertainment purposes only.

Now, let’s check out some of her most memorable moments.

4th Place With a Broken Foot

In 2017, the IAAF World Athletics Championship was held in London and Dina represented the United Kingdom. She managed to secure the fourth place in the women’s 200m race and won a silver medal as part of the Great Britain team in the 4×100 relay.

While many would argue that 4th is not something that a top-tier sprinter should be proud of, the case different here. A few months before the tournament took place, Dina broke her foot in a training accident. Even though her trainers were advising her not to pursue the 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championship, she went for it and made the best out of the situation.

Passing Kathy Cook

There are many achievements and records in Dina Asher-Smith’s portfolio. But, one of the most memorable has to be the moments when she managed to pass Kathy Cook. In the 2015 World Championship, she broke her 31-year old British record in the 200m race. Dina is also the first British female sprinter to win an individual medal in the World Championships since Kathy in 1983.

The 2018 European Championship Records

The 2018 European Championship was held in Berlin and for Dina Asher-Smith, it was one for the history books. Prior to this event, she held the British records for the 100m and 200 race, but her fierce dedication led her to achieve greatness and dwarf the competition. She improved both of these records to 10.85 seconds (100m) and 21.89 seconds (200m) and became the first British woman in history to run a 200m sprint below 22 seconds.

She also won a third gold medal in the 4×100 relay. The success in the 2018 European Championship earned her the 2018 women’s European Athlete of the Year. What’s more interesting about the 100m and 200m records is that she managed to break both of them in 2019. The British Record for the 100m race was improved to 10.83 in the 2019 World Championship, while the 200m personal best of 21.88 got her the gold medal.
