AW learns more about the electrolyte hydration drink from SOS Rehydrate

It's a relatively well-publicised fact that if you become dehydrated your performance instantly begins to suffer.

With this in mind, SOS set about creating an electrolyte hydration drink that combats dehydration and is as effective as an IV drip!

Being only 25 calories per 500ml serving also means the drink concentrates on rehydrating without any unnecessary ingredients.

The drink comes in a powder form and is easily mixed with water for a great tasting drink. It's available in either blueberry or citrus flavours, with a box of five sachets costing £8.

SOS Rehydrate was launched in the UK in February with investor, the four-time Olympic gold medal-winning yachtsman Sir Ben Ainslie, and his racing team big fans of the product.

SOS Rehydrate is engineered by a doctor, two former elite athletes and a retired military medical officer with the purpose of solving dehydration in order to improve overall human performance.

SOS Rehydrate explain how osmolarity is the balance between water and sodium in the body. The body's normal (isotonic) osmolarity is 290mmol/L. From a rehydration perspective, the lower the osmolarity, the faster the body can absorb water. SOS claims that SOS Rehydrate osmolarity is 20% lower than the average hydration drink, 25% lower than the average coconut water and 50% lower than the average sports drink.
