Olympic and world sprints champion will miss Diamond League events in Paris and Lausanne

Usain Bolt was due to race in Paris this weekend followed by a Diamond League in Lausanne five days later, but instead he is getting injury treatment in Germany.

The 28-year-old pulled out of the recent Jamaican Championships and a visit to the renowned German doctor Müller-Wohlfahrt in Munich confirmed that he has a blocked sacroiliac joint which is restricting his movement and putting pressure on his knee and ankle.

Bolt is due to spend this week receiving treatment, after which he will resume training in an attempt to defend his 100m and 200m titles at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing in August.

He said: "I’m disappointed not to be able to compete in Paris and Lausanne. I love running at these meetings but at the moment I am unable to compete at 100%. I look forward to getting back into full training as soon as possible."
