The SEAA says it is looking for a replacement venue for this year's event following an announcement by original host club Marshall Milton Keynes that it was set to be cancelled

The South Of England Athletic Association (SEAA) has announced that this year's South of England 6-stage and 12-stage Road Relay Championships are still due to take place, despite original host club Marshall Milton Keynes stating on Tuesday that the event was set to be cancelled.

The event had been due to be held at Stantonbury Stadium, Milton Keynes, on Sunday March 20.

"I very much regret to inform you that this event will not now happen," Marshall Milton Keynes chair Mick Bromilow wrote in a statement. "There simply is not enough time to organise the necessary road closure (four weeks notice has to be given in the local press) and nothing has yet been done to seek the necessary consent."

Bromilow went on to explain what he believes to be the reasons for the delay and the full Marshall Milton Keynes statement can be read here.

In response, SEAA president Martin Howard addressed some of Bromilow's points and advised that the governing body for the sport in the South of England is now looking for a replacement venue.

"We at the SEAA are disappointed at the outcome but are striving to find a replacement venue with the intention of keeping going the 12 and 6-stage Road Relays," commented Howard in a statement, which can be read here.
