She went over on her first attempt and won on countback from Montenegro's Marija Vukovic who jumped a national record.

Both then tried at 1.98m, which would have been a British record for Borthwick.

Her 1.95m did move her to equal third all-time indoors and equal fourth including outdoor marks and is a World indoor and outdoor qualifying mark.

Olympic fourth-placer Woo Sang-Hyeok broke the Korean indoor record four times as he sailed over 2.28m, 2.32m, 2.34m and then 2.36m.

His mark took him to second place on the Asian indoor all-time list to Mutaz Barshim and he chose not to go any higher.

Long and high jump talent JuVaughn Harrison cleared 2,32m while Cuban Luis Zayas was third with a 2.30m leap.
