A look at some of the top recent results from UK and overseas action, including a 2:36:22 marathon debut by Elinor Kirk in Florence

The British Athletics Cross Challenge meeting in Liverpool (report here) dominated the weekend, but other notable results included the following.

ESAA Cross Country Cup Final, Knole Park, Sevenoaks, November 25

Aaron Samuel (pictured) won a keenly contested inter boys race in 14:15, three seconds up on Robin Regan.

Ermysted School of Skipton easily won the team race.

Led by winner Matt Aldred, Dr Challoner's of Amersham won the junior boys event by a point from Coopers School.

They also won the junior girls event, with Coopers again second as the individual title went to Ruby Vinton by a second from Daisy Pellow.

The inter girls race was also close and won by a point as City of London denied Millfield. The individual race was won by Jodie Hill (10:21) just ahead of Abbie Ives (10:22) and Jessica Spilsbury (10:23).

South of Thames 5 mile Cross Country Championships, Beckenham, November 25

Paskar Owor won his fifth South of Thames title, taking gold by a second in 27:39 from Jordan Weaver who led Kent AC to team victory from Owor’s Belgrave. Top vet Chris Greenwood was a close third in 27:49.

Kent AC also won the women’s team race, with their B team second though Aldershot’s Georgie Bruinvels won the individual title in 31:32 ahead of Kent’s Amy Clements (32:48), with third-placer Ella Newton winning the under-20 gold in 34:00.

Florence Marathon, Italy, November 26

Bahrain's Zelalem Bacha Regasa claimed the win ahead of Ethiopia's Tadesse Mamo as both athletes clocked 2:14:41.

There was an Ethiopian 1-2-3 in the women’s race, with Dire Tune winning in 2:28:55 from Amente Negash (2:29:46) and Mesera Hussen (2:32:05).

Elinor Kirk clocked 2:36:22 for fourth and a Welsh Commonwealth Games A standard on her marathon debut.

Irish Life Health National Senior and Juvenile Even Age Championships, Abbotsown, November 26

Shona Heaslip and Paul Pollock won the senior titles.

England Masters Inter Area, Bournemouth, November 25

This event, held the week after the international, was dominated by Southern runners, with hosts South West Vets easily winning the team race.

While Aaron Brown was first across the line in 25:35, the men’s race was decided on age-grading and won by M70 Pete Giles with a 90.48% for his 30:59, just ahead of fellow M70 Brian James (31:02).

Maria Kowal was first across the line in the women’s race in 28:09, just ahead of Kath Bailey’s 28:14.

The official first place went to former senior international Penny Forse with 93.55% for her 33:53, with W45 Bailey again second.

Kent Cross Country League, Bexleyheath, November 25

W50 Maria Heslop won in 17:58 from Elaine Rayner (18:10) and Caroline Ford (18:17).

Essex Cross Country League, Hockley, November 25

Ryan Prout won the men’s race in 28:41 while Rachel Wiseman was first woman in 21:55.

Tokyo, November 25

Ethiopia’s 17-year-old Yeneblo Biyazen won the 10,000m in a fast 27:32.51 in his debut at the distance as 12 athletes broke the 28-minute barrier.

Manchester, USA, November 23

Olympic 5000m silver medallist Paul Chelimo won the 4.748 miles race in 21:32 ahead of Kirubel Erassa (21:34) and Britain’s Chris Thompson (21:36).

Ethiopia’s Buze Diriba outsprinted Molly Huddle to win the women’s race in a course record 23:57.

Molly Seidel was third in 24:14, two seconds ahead of Britain's Eilish McColgan.

Eynsham 10km, November 26

In an exciting three-way battle which saw the top three covered by four seconds, Matthieu Marshall won in 32:53.

Joanna Musk was first woman in 37:35.

Sri Chinmoy 10km, November 26

Ed Auden won in 33:02, with Kristina Randrup first woman in 39:28.

Cross Internacional de la Constitucion, Spain, November 26

Kenya's Alice Aprot won over the 8.04km course in 27:20 from Trihas Gebre (27:54). Eritrean Aron Kifle was the winner of the 10.06km men's race in 29:22 from Uganda's Timothy Toroitich (29:57).

Darmstadt Cross, Germany, November 26

Alina Reh narrowly won the 6km women's race in 21:23 from Konstanze Klosterhalfen (21:25). Amanal Petros won the 9km men's race in 27:24.
