The mobile MOWA exhibition is in the Japanese capital and is poised to stage a special event on Tuesday.

Sebastian Coe will host a donation ceremony for the Museum of World Athletics in Tokyo on Tuesday (Sept 16) with eight world or Olympic champions donating items.

As well as the global gold medallists, a former Boston Marathon winner and a world record-breaking race walker are also among the donors as the athletes kindly lend some of their clothing, shoes and equipment to bolster the impressive and ever-growing collection.

The athletes donating memorabilia are:

  • Kenji Kimihara (winner Boston Marathon 1966),
  • Don Quarrie (Olympic gold 200m 1976),
  • Ellen van Langen (Olympic gold 800m 1992),
  • Mizuki Noguchi (Olympic gold Marathon 2004),
  • Joanna Hayes (Olympic gold 100m hurdles 2004),
  • Ladji Doucouré (world gold 110m hurdles & 4x100m 2005),
  • Constantina Dita (Olympic gold marathon 2008),
  • Trey Hardee (world gold decathlon 2009 2011),
  • Nicola Olyslagers (world indoor gold high jump 2024 2025),
