Morgan Lake, Niamh Emerson and Taylor Campbell are among the entries

Britain's top student athletes face each other in the traditional early-summer BUCS Championships in Bedford this weekend (May 5-7).

Among the star names on the entry lists are two athletes who shone at the Commonwealth Games a few weeks ago – high jump silver medallist Morgan Lake and heptathlon bronze medallist Niamh Emerson, who was also due to compete in the high jump in Bedford.

Jess Judd is down to race in a competitive 800m against Mhairi Hendry, Emily Dudgeon, Leah Barrow, Sabrina Sinha and others, while the Loughborough student is also entered for the 5000m, where she could face both Phoebe Law and Jenny Nesbitt.

The men’s 800m also looks interesting with Dan Rowden of Imperial set to face St Mary’s runners Sean Molloy, Nicholas Landeau and Canaan Solomon.

Another Commonwealth Games competitor, Allan Smith of Edinbugh Napier, is in a high jump field that includes Chris Kandu of East London.

Taylor Campbell of Loughborough leads the hammer entries while Adelle Nicoll of Cardiff Met heads the shot entries.

The programme also includes a number of para-athletics events such as seated discus and shot and wheelchair 100m and 800m.

The action gets under way at 10:30 on Saturday and comes to a close with the relays on Monday.

The full timetable can be found here.
