A look ahead to this weekend's action at Wollaton Park where Dewi Griffiths and Jess Andrews are among those competing

The same Wollaton Park in Nottingham that staged the recent Saucony English National is the venue for Saturday's Home Countries Cross Country International.

This time, athletes will race over a different course with the first race, for junior women, at 11.30am.

The senior men’s race, at 1.30pm, features Dewi Griffiths (pictured above, number 4658), the 2013-14 British Athletics Cross Challenge series winner, who runs for Wales. He faces a field that includes Andy Heyes and Ian Bailey from England.

The host nation is also strong in the senior women’s race with Aldershot, Farnham & District duo Jess Andrews and Georgie Bruinvels leading the charge, plus in-form masters runner Miranda Heathcote. Juliet and Jane Potter represent the Midlands, while Faye Fullerton, a former world university cross country champion, runs for the South.

In the Wales team, meanwhile, Sian Edwards will hope to continue her good form. Since finishing 10th in the World Cross junior race in 2006, she has struggled with injury but was an encouraging 13th in the recent Inter-Counties.

The junior races at Wollaton Park give under-20 athletes a good chance to gain experience and teams include Zak Miller, who runs for the North, and Jamaine Coleman. The England junior women’s team is also strong with Grace Baker and Amy Griffiths among others.
