Get set for the JCP Swansea Half Marathon
Have you signed up to #RunSwansea yet? The flat and fast JCP Swansea Half Marathon takes place on Sunday June 26, 2016, on fully closed roads and is one of the fastest growing races in the UK. It's organised by runners for runners.
Starting and finishing in the city centre, the route takes participants along Swansea Bay to The Mumbles and back, boasting six miles of stunning coastline, beautiful views and fantastic crowd support.
The JCP Swansea Half Marathon sees fast times and the current course records are held by Welsh Commonwealth athlete and GB international Dewi Griffiths (66:48) and Emma Wookey (77:51).
The race has been increasing in size and popularity since the inaugural edition in 2014, with entries sold out in 2014 and 2015. The JCP Swansea Half Marathon was a finalist at The 2015 Running Awards for the UK’s Best Half Marathon and is quickly establishing itself as a must do event.
A total of 8000 public and charity places are available for 2016 and the race will see participants of all levels from across the UK and beyond run #FromTheCityToTheSea. A brand new charity structure was introduced for 2016 with Cancer Research UK as the headline charity partner and Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, Help for Heroes and Save the Children as gold charity partners. Runners can also raise money for The Swans Community Trust, the community charity partner of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon 2016.
Entries are open and public places cost £33 for affiliated athletes and £35 for non-affiliated runners, which includes a fully marshaled course on closed roads, medal, technical t-shirt, on route entertainment, post race massage and goody bag for all finishers.
