Kenenisa Bekele will attempt to add another world record to his collection on Friday (January 20) when he races at the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon.
The 34-year-old, who has won three Olympic titles and five world outdoor gold medals on the track, broke the world 5000m and 10,000m records in 2004 and 2005 respectively and now eyes Dennis Kimetto's mark for 26.2 miles of 2:02:57 clocked in Berlin in 2014.

"The marathon needs a long time to develop, you need experience," the IAAF quoted Bekele as having told a pre-race press conference on Wednesday.
"After two years, I feel that I am a marathoner now," added the Ethiopian, who made his marathon debut in Paris in 2014 and last year missed the world record by just six seconds with his time of 2:03:03 in Berlin.
"This (Dubai) is a similar flat course to Berlin, and I think I can do better. I plan to run the world record."
Bekele will be joined in the field by athletes including 2014 winner Tsegaye Mekonnen (2:04:32) and Olympic 10,000m bronze medallist Tamirat Tola (2:06:17), while their fellow Ethiopians Shure Demise (2:20:59) and Meselech Melkamu (2:21:01) are among those contesting the women's race.
