Three athletes will represent Great Britain at the ultra-running event in Spain in November

Jo Zakrzewski, Craig Holgate and Marcus Scotney have been named on the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the IAU 100K World Championships to be held in Los Alcazares, Spain, on November 27.

Zakrzewski finished fifth at the championships last year, earning European bronze. An ever-present member of GB long distance running teams, the Durham athlete has gone from strength to strength in the last few years, and has already also been selected for the IAU World Trail Championships later this year.

The 40-year-old ran a 10-minute PB at the championships in Winschoten, Netherlands, last year, posting a time of 7:31:33 to move to fourth on the UK all-time list.

Holgate, who was the highest placed Briton last year when he finished 12th in the world, joined the sub-seven-hour club in 2015, recording a best of 6:53:22 to take him to 13th on the UK all-time list. Scotney also went under seven hours last year with a time of 6:56:12.
