Winners of the seven categories in national governing body's annual awards are named

Jo Pavey, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Hannah Cockroft are among the winners of British Athletics' awards for 2014.

There were a total of seven categories in this year's awards, with the winners decided by public vote.

Pavey – who recently claimed an AW Readers’ Choice Awards hat-trick after receiving the most reader votes in the British female, British masters and moment of the year categories – won her first major title at the European Championships in Zurich this summer, claiming 10,000m gold just 10 days after she bagged Commonwealth 5000m bronze in Glasgow. The 41-year-old has been named as the British Athletics Athlete of the Year.

Another athlete to have received recognition in AW's awards was Hudson-Smith and he also wins the British Athletics Young Athlete of the Year award, while double IPC European Championships gold medallist Cockroft is Paralympic Athlete of the Year.

Maria Lyle won the Young Paralympic Athlete of the Year category, the youngster having broken both 100m and 200m world records and claimed double gold at her first major championships in Swansea in the T35 sprint events.

Steve Fudge has been awarded the British Athletics Coach of the Year award, with three of his athletes - James Dasaolu, Adam Gemili and Jonnie Peacock - having claimed European titles this summer.

The British Athletics Club of the Year award goes to Swansea Harriers. One of Wales’ premier clubs with almost 600 members, they also boast approximately 100 coaches, team managers and officials - the largest in Wales.

Blair Pettigrew from Scotland was voted winner of the Volunteer of the Year award having given up a minimum of twenty hours a week for the last twelve months with the aim of modernising North Ayrshire AC.
