Russia's 2012 European 800m silver medallist Irina Maracheva has been handed a two-year doping ban by the Russian Olympic Committee, The Associated Press has reported.

The news agency also reports that race walker Anna Lukyanova, who claimed world junior 10,000m race walk silver in 2010, has also been suspended for two years, while runners Maria Nikolaeva and Elena Nikulina are said to have been given four-year bans.

Maracheva had initially finished third behind her Russian team-mate Yelena Arzhakova and Britain's Lynsey Sharp at the 2012 European Championships in Helsinki but was upgraded to silver when Arzhakova was stripped of her gold medal after abnormalities were found in her biological passport. Sharp was upgraded to gold.

Russian news agency TASS also reported that coach Lyudmila Fedoriva has been banned by the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF) for four years "over violations of doping regulations".

The ARAF was suspended as an IAAF Member in November. An inspection team looking into the anti-doping reforms programme in Russia is due to report back to the IAAF on March 27 "at the earliest".
