Dina Asher-Smith is to return to the scene of some of her most memorable moments this summer when she races at the Müller Anniversary Games.
The event returns to the London Stadium on July 20-21 as part of the 2019 British Athletics outdoor season, which sprint star Asher-Smith helped to launch on Tuesday, with tickets now on sale.
"I love racing at the Müller Anniversary Games, it’s one of my favourite meets in the world and holds some really special memories for me, like breaking the British 100m record and going under 11 seconds for the first time in 2015. That race was a pivotal moment in my career and something I’ll never forget," said the European 100m, 200m and 4x100m champion.
"It’s always an amazing experience for me to compete at the Müller Anniversary Games in the London Stadium because it’s in my home city. Even though I’ve been something of a regular at the event for a few years now, I still get goosebumps when I have my name called on the start-line and hear the crowd respond.
"This year is all about getting the balance right and choosing my races carefully, so with the Müller Anniversary Games being held at a key point in the season ahead of the World Championships it’s an event that will serve as a big part of my preparations for Doha.
"The aim will be definitely be to lay down a marker ahead of then and give our amazing British fans something special to cheer for."
The Müller Anniversary Games is the only two-day meeting in the 2019 IAAF Diamond League series, with other memorable performances at the event in recent years coming from athletes such as Sir Mo Farah, Laura Muir and Sophie Hahn.
Major events director for British Athletics, Cherry Alexander, said: "The Müller Anniversary Games is one of the world’s best athletics meetings and this year’s two day event will be even more special, with world-leading British stars like Dina spearheading the challenge against the best athletes on the planet.
"We know that the world’s top athletes want to compete in London, so we can guarantee an outstanding line-up with the most exciting head-to-heads, on the doorstep for British sports fans, ahead of the World Championships in Doha.
"The Müller Anniversary Games will be an unmissable and unforgettable weekend of entertainment for all the family."
