Great comfort for long days on the dirt
Smooth riding, well cushioned and grippy with a tough upper. A good choice for long-distance adventures.
The Hierro v6 looks attractive if a little busy. It’s a little less ‘graffiti-like’ than the previous model but there’s still a lot going on in this off-roader, built more for comfort than danger.
The Hierro has been designed to be long distance, cushioned shoe so the Fresh Foam midsole is deep. It performs as any of NB’s road going Fresh Foam shoe would, so it delivers a very soft, smooth ride – perfect for trail running. Underfoot comfort is impressive as it soaks up stones for fun.
With an 8mm heel drop most will be able to wear it comfortably for many miles making it a good choice as an everyday off-road trainer but perhaps not for those attempting anything too wild.
Much of the shoe’s busyness comes from the upper design but we felt it certainly wasn’t unattractive. It’s strong looking and gives you a feeling of security.
The two-tone multi-directional weave of the upper is tough. The shoe is reinforced with TPU overlays to strengthen the upper further. It’s got a really nice toe bumper design to protect against rocks etc.
The multi-shaped Vibram studded outsole is grippy whether running up or down hill. It provides good traction and is also durable. Like the v5 version, this Hierro features a flare at the heel to help grip from first contact.
This comfortable off-roader is a shoe capable of being used everyday. Ideally suited for stony trails, the Hierro v6 delivers a great combination of grip and soft cushioning. The upper is plush but is also tough and supportive offering that element of security.
