First impressions

Whilst this shoe is the third generation of this name, it’s an entirely updated and refreshed model

The Sky is a premium neutral model, only sitting below the mega Mizuno Prophecy 9 in the neutral line-up. For cheaper alternatives, check out the popular Wave Rider 23 and the Wave Skyrise models.

Midsole

It’s a highly cushioned shoe and the brand’s most cushioned model that doesn’t feature the familiar Wave system in its most recognisable form. Here the Wave is made up from new cushioning foams, XPOP PU foam and the Mizuno Foam Wave. 

The XPOP material is a PU-based blend and like the premium foams used by many manufacturers, offers exceptional levels of impact protection with the added benefit of being highly responsive. In this shoe, the material is instantly noticeable and feels beautifully soft as soon as you pull the shoe on as well as being highly responsive when you start to run. 

Upper

The upper is similarly as good, very comfortable, very padded around the heel and just a great place to be.

Sole

X10 carbon rubber is located in the heel and forefoot for enhanced traction

Technical info

Mizuno Wave Foam midsole creates an all-new plush underfoot experience.

U4ic is a lightweight midsole that provides optimal shock absorption, improved durability, and a resilient ride.

XPOP is a polyurethane midsole foam that provides great cushioning with a touch of responsiveness.

Smooth Ride is a gender specific network of grooves that minimizes the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot to create a smooth heel to toe ride.

X10 located in the heel and forefoot is made of durable carbon rubber for enhanced traction.

WaveKnit is a soft, engineered knit upper that provides accommodating comfort for a variety of different feet.

Anatomical sockliner adds a layer of plush cushioning directly beneath the foot.

u4icX Strobel Lining stitches the upper to full-length fabric for a comfortable underfoot feel.
