We’ve long been fans of the Ghost and the 9 is no exception It’s a tad lighter but that’s not bad thing as the shoes feel as plush and comfortable as ever.
The Brooks team have been hard at work making changes to what is invariably one of the most popular shoes on the market. Risky business? Well, it can be but working from that comfortable 12mm heel to toe drop (very user-friendly, thank you), the full-length crash pad underfoot has been modified to add a touch more flexibility. It forms part of Brooks BioMoGo DNA midsole and works towards creating as much energy return as possible. A key area has been the work on the lugs – not that significant you might think, but actually by calming them down slightly, the ride feels that much smoother.
Upstairs, comfort is the name of the game thanks to the completely seamless upper. That includes an open-weave mesh that’s good for breathability, flexibility and, of course, an element of support.
The outsole is divided into countless square and rectangular pods with cut outs, giving the pods even more articulation. Together with the prominent Omega Flex Grooves, these provide a flexible ride with smooth toe offs.
With a new plush interior and refined mesh upper, the Ghost 9 running shoe delivers the same smooth ride and balanced feel you love, but with a more seamless fit so it feels lighter than ever before. And, it comes in at a very acceptable price too. The 12mm heel to toe drop is particularly good for the older or heavier runner. The Saucony Triumph ISO 3 is a good alternative.
