First impressions

A familiar shoe to many, a look at the best neutral shoes around wouldn’t be complete without considering the Brooks Ghost. The Ghost is a firm favourite with many runners, making it one of the brand’s best-selling models.

It’s a combination of lightweight, super-plush cushioning and great fit that give it such a broad appeal.

It sits below the Brooks Levitate 3 and the Brooks Glycerine 18 in the range but above the Brooks Aduro 6.

Midsole

Whilst the cushioning comes from a mixture of the brand’s DNA LOFT and BioMoGo DNA materials, it is perhaps more easily described as being a well-rounded mix that simple soaks up impact without you even noticing. There is a segmented crash-pad and this aids both impact and control, helping to keep the foot stable and balanced. Flex-grooves and a multi-piece outsole keep the shoe flexible and add to a feeling of hardly noticing the shoe, leaving you free to run.

Upper

The Ghost 12 offers a great engineered mesh upper. It fits exceptionally well and when you slide them on, it’s easy to see why the shoe is so popular.

Sole

The outsole is largely blown rubber which is durable while offering a good degree of responsiveness and it’s also flexible.

Conclusion

The Ghost remains a beautifully riding and well cushioned shoe. If a neutral runner, put them on your short list.
