The latest update to this ever popular shoe sees perhaps the best version yet! It's a premium priced model and it is perhaps that high price point that prevents it from getting the perfect 10.
A very very good shoe, performs well, fits well, it does pretty much everything really well. It's a premium priced model, so is more expensive than many of the really popular models, but if you are going to treat yourself, then with this shoe you won't regret it - go on, you're worth it!
Step in comfort is second to none. The premium materials and construction of the upper make the shoe immediately welcoming.
Once you start to move down the road, that premium feel transfers into the ride. It's provide great control for over-pronators, yet is'nt bulky or too stiff. The cushioning is light and smooth and it really does make your run a more satisfying experince.
As smooth as silk, with a beautifully cushioned ride was the firth thoughts I had when describing this shoe. From the first step in the new midsole combination FlyteFoams and Gel is a little softer, a little more stable and a whole lot more smooth. It just feel really nice, a real joy ride!
Very well made with premium materials make the upper one of the nicest around. It simply fits very well and feels supportive with being restictive and padded without being too thick.
The outsole retains a similar pattern to previous models and in that its fine for the roads and firm non technical trails (dirt tracks).
The noticeable update is too the Trustic system - that plastic midfoot section. Its now a little more 'filled-in' and and as such seems a little bit stiffer. On the run it's hardly noticeable and in fact the shoe feels smooth if anything than before.
The best version of the Kayano I have ran in. Silky smooth cushioning with great support without being stiff or awkward. From slipping the foot in, it feels at home, in luxury surroundings.
Well made, with premium materials, it really is a premium product in terms of fit, feel and performance.
The price will put some people off. The most competitive price point for high mileage shoes is around £120 right now with models like the new New Balance 860v11 , Brooks Adrenaline and Asics own GT2000 all being very popular and high performing optins. The 25% increase in price over them might just be a little too much to spend for many, but if you can afford it, you are certainly in for a treat.
