Entries are now open for businesses and organisations to take part in next year’s JCP Swansea Half Marathon

Businesses and organisations can now sign up to take part in next year’s JCP Swansea Half Marathon with entries open for the Swansea Half Marathon Corporate Challenge.

The opportunity to enter the Corporate Challenge on June 26, 2016, is open to any organisation, whether it be a social enterprise or a large commercial operation.

The Corporate Challenge was introduced to give corporate teams the opportunity to get involved in one of the UK’s fastest growing half marathons, while giving their business exposure and visibility at a major sporting event. The event offers a platform for companies to actively promote a healthy work force and to encourage fitness, motivation and team building in the business environment while raising money for charity.

The inaugural Corporate Challenge took place in 2015 and saw eleven companies battle it out for the winning title, including headline sponsor JCP Solicitors. The team from HMT Sancta Maria won the first Corporate Challenge title and they aim to be back to defend in 2016.

Corporate teams can include between five to fifty runners, and the team with the fastest combined team time (an average time of the top five fastest finishers) will win the Corporate Challenge title.

“We are delighted to be bringing back the very successful Corporate Challenge for 2016,” said race director David Martin-Jewell. “The Corporate Challenge was hugely popular at our race this year and the feedback we received from participating businesses was fantastic.

“We are aiming to build on its success for 2016 and we would encourage as many companies as possible from the Swansea Bay region and beyond to take on the team challenge. This is the perfect team building experience from the moment of registration right through to race day, the journey a team can make is incredible.”

Ashley Brown from HMT Sancta Maria said: “As a not for profit independent hospital with health promotion high on our agenda, the JCP Swansea Half Marathon is a fantastic platform for us to encourage exercise participation around one of the UK’s greatest events.

“We were delighted to see some of our staff participating in their first running event last year and to win the corporate challenge was a real bonus. Of course we are excited to return in 2016 as the event grows and hope to see many more first time runners on the start line. ”

Corporate team entries cost £33+VAT per person for teams of 5-10 entrants, £32+VAT per person for 11-25 entrants and £30+VAT per person for 26-50 entrants. The entry fee includes the team or company name on every runner’s bib, a listing on the Corporate Challenge web page on the race website, access to training advice and plans, plus a medal, technical t-shirt and goody bag for every finisher. The organisers will also award a donation of £100 to the winning team’s charity of choice.
